You Are Worth It!!
You are Worth It!!
Becoming healthy is not something easy to do and starts first with your mindset. You need to want it to achieve it. You can do anything your mind wants to do. Sometimes the easy part is setting the goals you want for yourself, it is reaching them that is the hard part. We all go through this and following these tips below will get your on your way.
1. Set an intention. Give yourself specific goals. Not just broad such as losing 10 pounds or lowering your cholesterol, be detailed. Attach feelings and emotions to your goals. You want to lose 10 pounds, so you will be confident when going bathing suit shopping. You want to lower your cholesterol which will also lower your risk of severe health problems and can enjoy more things with family. Revisit this intention each and every time you want to quit, whether in a workout of a food choice. Make your intention powerful and extremely meaningful to you. Write it down!
2. Plan. Add your workout to your calendar. This will seem as though you are making a commitment to yourself to get it done. It also allows the time set aside to do something good for yourself.
Plan out a grocery list for healthy foods and snacks to keep you stocked with good health-conscious options when you get hungry. Add time in your calendar for grocery shopping too. A healthy lifestyle will require more planning and visits to the grocery store.
3. Indulge. Give yourself a relax and/or cheat day. No one can go long term when it comes to trying to get healthy without falling off the wagon. Over time, the relax days will become less strenuous workouts, like walking and cheat meals may be adding a few more calories to your day or having a yummy dessert you have been craving all week. The more you set your mind to making good decisions, the less you want to make bad ones.
4. Reward yourself. Make your goals in increments so you can relish in joy often for accomplishing little goals. Set a reward for accomplishing the little things. Some ideas are adding a dollar into a shopping jar every time you accomplish a goal or allow yourself a little treat if you hit a big goal or milestone. This will take you to the bigger goals much faster than you realize.
5. Have fun! Adopt the mindset that good health is about the journey and not the destination. At every age and phase of our life, we need to always strive for better health. Enjoy and embrace the journey. Learn something new each week that will make it easier for you to stay on track to a healthier lifestyle, whether it be a new delicious healthy recipe or a new fitness routine that you look forward to doing.
Make this a fun project for yourself. Whatever works for you…Some people like journals and vision boards, while others may have different formats. No matter how you do it…circle back around with yourself to see how you are feeling and adjusting. Make modifications to your routine or menu. Are you reaching your goals? Are you happy with your progress? This is YOUR journey and it is as simple as you make it. Putting yourself high on your list of priorities will be the best decision you make for yourself and the people who love you!
